Charles Herring

Charles started WitFoo in 2016, a cybersecurity software company to help organisations, law enforcement and insurers share evidence and operations against cybercrime. He began in security analytics in 2002 as a Network Security Officer at the US Naval Postgraduate School, and later worked at Lancope (acquired by Cisco) before founding WitFoo. Charles relocated from Chicago to Christchurch with his wife Mai in 2025, where WitFoo now runs its product engineering and AI operations and partners with the University of Canterbury on open cybersecurity research.
